Coexistence
With the ephemeral and transformative spirit inherent to metropolitan life, the Coexistence series recreates the city’s landscape and explores the connections between nature and humanity through its waste. By collecting discarded trash and forgotten debris from the streets, plazas, sewers, or alongside train tracks on a daily basis, this obsessive, meticulous, and yet, arbitrary collection explores impossible balances.
Thus, fallen leaves, a withered flower, a pile of discarded papers, or an unused household object intertwine to become sculptural forms. In their unfolding, new interactions and meanings emerge.
These improvised sculptures exist only for 24 hours and are permanently recorded in my photographic documentation before returning to their place of origin and disappearing into oblivion.
